Bullying at school or college is stressful and can cause anxiety, depression and misery both for the person being bullied and those close to them.
Friendships both individual and peer group friendships are very important at school and often when a person is being bullied the bully will try and isolate you from your friends, – make you feel out of the group. It can feel as though the bully is controlling your life and everyone around you – but don’t forget this is how they want you to feel.
If bullying is really bad it can mean that you stay away from school or in extreme cases you don’t go back to school. You can become withdrawn and sad. Avoiding the bully seems to be the most important thing in your life and staying off school or changing schools seems like a good idea. Sometimes it is but it is not as effective as learning ways and techniques to deal with bullying.
Building up your inner strength means that it is less likely to happen to you again. It is so important to deal with it as soon as you feel able to as long term bullying can have a really negative impact on your life.
